Keukenhof Gardens

Keukenhof Gardens, also known as the Garden of Europe, is the most famous tulip garden in the world. The garden is located in Lisse, about 30 minutes from Amsterdam, and it's open from mid-March to mid-May. Keukenhof features over 7 million tulips in a variety of colors, as well as daffodils, hyacinths, and other spring flowers. In addition to the tulip fields, Keukenhof also features a variety of gardens, including a Japanese garden, a Dutch garden, and a flower parade garden. Visitors can also take a boat tour through the tulip fields, which is a unique way to see the flowers.

Tulip fields in the Bollenstreek

The Bollenstreek is a region in the Netherlands known for its tulip fields. The region stretches from Leiden to Haarlem and is at its most colorful in the spring. Visitors can rent a scooter or bike to explore the tulip fields, stopping to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Keep in mind that entering the fields without the farmer’s permission is not allowed. For photos in the tulip fields, check out de Tulperij and Tulip Experience Amsterdam. The tulip fields in the Bollenstreek are typically in bloom from early-April to early-May. For a memorable experience, visitors can also see the fields from a hot air balloon.

Tulip fields in Noordoostpolder

Noordoostpolder is a region in the Netherlands known for its flat landscape and tulip fields. The region is located about an hour from Amsterdam and is at its most colorful in the spring. Visitors can drive or bike through the tulip fields, stopping to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Tulip fields in Noordoostpolder are typically in bloom in April.

Also in the area are Lelystad and Almere, the two cities in the Flevoland province. Lelystad has a great museum on the history of this reclaimed land, which is alongside a shopping outlet. Almere has beaches, shopping, and an interesting vibe to experience.

Laag Holland

The area just north of Amsterdam, known as Laag Holland, is another popular spot for tulip fields. Driving the small country roads in a car is doable, but it’s a flat country so renting a bike or scooter is a good option as well. For an extra special experience, take a helicopter ride over the fields for a view not soon forgotten.

Go beyond the fields and discover country life through farm shops, small villages, and slow living. Take a boat cruise around the little islands in the farmland with Theetuin de Vaarboerderij. And check out this full guide on the area.

The Flower Parade

The Flower Parade, also known as the Bloemencorso, is a colorful parade of flower-covered floats that takes place in various towns in the Netherlands in the spring. The parade features floats covered in millions of tulips, daffodils, and other spring flowers, and it is a true spectacle to behold. The parade is typically held in April or May, and the route varies depending on the location. Some popular towns to see the Flower Parade include Haarlem, Leiden, and Noordwijk.

When visiting the tulip fields and flower gardens in the Netherlands, it's important to keep in mind that the blooming season can vary depending on the weather and other factors.
